Cancer Prevention/Support & Urinary Health (protocol packs)

Cancer Prevention & Support (10 pairs — qa-cancer-support.json)
Framing (non-negotiable): holistic = prevention + SUPPORT, never a cure or replacement for oncology.
- 🟡 Obesity = real risk factor (inflammation/insulin resistance) → keep lean. Best free lever.
- 🟡 Omega-3 (EPA/DHA) — anti-tumor mechanisms + anti-cachexia (fights wasting). Supportive.
- 🟠 Keto/low-carb — NO prevention evidence; theorized adjuvant alongside standard therapy; emerging/experimental; high-fat caution.
- 🟠 Turkey tail (PSP) — UPenn hemangiosarcoma trial: 100 mg/kg median survival 199 days (PMC3440946). Small (~15 dogs) but real.
- 🟠 Turmeric/curcumin — in vitro anti-cancer (Cornell turmeric+rosemary synergy); little in vivo canine proof; poor absorption; blood thinner.
- ⚪ Anti-inflammatory whole-food diet + reduce carcinogens/antioxidants — reasonable prevention/support, not proven cure. (⚠️ high-dose antioxidant supplements can interfere with chemo/radiation — clear with oncologist.)
- 🟡 During treatment: protect appetite + muscle (cachexia worsens outcomes); omega-3, palatable toppers, gut support; coordinate w/ oncology.
- ⚪ "Natural instead of chemo/surgery" = NO. Integrative (oncologist + holistic support) = best shot.
Urinary Health (10 pairs — qa-urinary-health.json)
- 🟡 UTI signs → urinalysis/culture; inability to urinate = EMERGENCY.
- 🟢 Stone type is everything: struvite (UTI-driven) = the ONLY common stone dissolvable by therapeutic diet (reduced Mg/phosphorus, acidify urine <6.5, dilute); calcium oxalate = CANNOT dissolve, must be removed, diet = prevention only.
- 🟢 Hydration = #1 at-home lever — dilute urine flushes bacteria/crystals. Moisture-rich food, water/broth, fountains.
- 🟡 Wet/fresh food edge for urinary health (more moisture, dilute urine) — aligns with whole-food view.
- 🟡 Cranberry/D-mannose — anti-adhesion UTI support; ⚠️ NOT for calcium-oxalate stone-formers (cranberry raises urinary oxalate).
- 🟡 True UTI usually needs antibiotics (culture) — natural = prevention, not cure for active infection (can ascend to kidneys).
