There are real protocols holistic vets use to shrink lipomas, and this page gives you the actual doses rather than vague advice. One thing up front so you can weigh it yourself: these come from clinical practice, not controlled trials — no dietary or supplement protocol has been tested against a canine lipoma in a controlled study. And nothing here applies until a vet has confirmed the lump IS a lipoma by looking at cells.

The essentials. For anything specific to your dog, just ask the assistant above.
50 mg per kilogram of body weight, twice daily. L-carnitine targets fat metabolism to break down fat cells and also supports muscle mass. It is well tolerated in dogs and is commonly used for heart conditions, so the safety profile is established — though the lipoma use itself comes from holistic practice rather than a controlled trial.
Start at half a teaspoon per 20 lbs of body weight daily and work up to 1 teaspoon per 20 lbs. Start slowly or you will cause diarrhoea — that is the most common mistake. Give it at least 4 weeks before judging whether it is working. The mechanism given is conversion to ketones, which raises metabolic rate and supports fat loss while sparing muscle.
Turkey tail and maitake. For a 20 lb dog the dose is 0.5 to 1 gram of HOT-WATER-EXTRACTED turkey tail powder, twice daily. The extraction method is not optional — raw mushroom powder is a different product and does not perform the same way. The stated mechanism is increasing Phase II liver detoxification plus anti-tumour activity.
A 70/30 mix of liquid DMSO and aloe vera, applied directly to the lipoma twice daily. DMSO penetrates skin rapidly and carries the aloe into the mass, triggering a local immune response. Always wear gloves — DMSO carries whatever is on the skin straight into the bloodstream, including whatever is on yours. A mild inflammatory reaction at the site is expected. Clear this with your vet before starting.
It depends on your dog’s energetic constitution. A WARM dog (pants, seeks cold floors, sprawls) gets cleavers tincture for lymphatics, plus burdock root, chickweed and violet. A COOL dog (seeks warmth, wants blankets, curls up) gets calendula tincture, plus ashwagandha — especially if hypothyroid — turmeric and self-heal. Giving the wrong side works against you.
Twice daily, straight in the mouth, dosed by size: Chihuahua 1 drop, 20 lb dog 2 drops, Corgi 3–4 drops, Golden Retriever 4–5 drops, giant breed 5–6 drops. Add new herbs one at a time, three days apart, so you know what caused a reaction. Cleavers is a diuretic and may loosen stool for the first 24 hours.
Colostrum: 100 mg per 10 lbs daily — it raises metabolic rate, promotes muscle mass, and coats the intestinal tract. Green tea extract: 50 mg per 10 lbs daily sprinkled on food, roughly a quarter of a 400 mg capsule for a 20 lb dog. It must be concentrated extract; brewed tea does not deliver the same dose.
Before a vet has looked at the cells. Every protocol here assumes the mass has been CONFIRMED as a benign lipoma by impression smear or fine needle aspirate. Treating an unconfirmed lump at home means that if it is a mast cell tumour, you have given it months to grow. Also skip straight to your vet if the lump is growing fast, has irregular borders, interferes with movement, or is draining fluid.
Educational only — not veterinary advice. Always work with your vet, especially if your dog is on medication.
